Day 8 Newsflash
Waking up early has always been difficult for students but this time our gloomy morning faces were not that dull. To accomplish the target we had set for, we had to give the construction a ceiling and today was the day. We reached the working site at our usual time and started the day with passing bricks and cementing the water supply outlet by giving it a hoarding. The hard part was digging up a pipe line for drainage and this was done by us using shovels. Heat was as usual scorching and the morning sun was quite intense itself. But this could not dampen the spirits of the students. They were able to return with a satisfied grin completing all the work so that the evening session could focus only on the roof construction part.
Routine included activities such as swimming, optional of course and soon lunch was served. We were gratified enough before attending a meeting with the Director of the school, Dr. Naidu. He had been monitoring the progress and wanted to meet the entire group before we departed tomorrow. After an open discussion with him about our experiences till now, we attended our last activity, DT and Visual Arts respectively. We completed our works today and were told to collect the finished products tomorrow.
We left for the second session an hour early due to excess work load today. There was a sudden change in the climatic conditions and we were welcomed by the work site with drizzling which continued throughout our stay there. Working in this weather was not possible as the ceiling construction did not favor moisture. We decided to play cricket instead and returned at 7 not as worn out as usual.
After a delicious meal we headed for our daily reflection and a documentary was ready to be played for us. Enjoying it immensely we were shown a movie “To Sir, with love” and this was just the right way to end the day before heading to our rooms for a rejuvenating sleep.
